Communities Tackling Loneliness Through Transport

By Debra Gray - (Jun, 2024)

Communities Tackling Loneliness with Sustainable Transport (CTLwT) was awarded funding from the Department for Transport’s Tackling Loneliness with Transport Fund. This fund commissioned 12 projects across the UK (including ours) to explore how transport could contribute to reducing loneliness in communities. In this report, we detail the findings of the independent evaluation of the project. All three pilots were evaluated using the same mixed methods evaluation framework. This focused both on outcomes to see if the project met its loneliness reduction aims, and process, to identify learning and insights into project delivery. In this report, we set out our findings in relation to the impact of the project, as well as how it was implemented in practice in the project areas, and the challenges faced in delivering the pilots. Finally, we explore the lessons that can be learned from this project for future loneliness interventions involving transport.
